MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- 4 years ago Megan Hobson was the victim of a drive-by shooting.
"That night the bullet that hit me entered through the bumper, then the trunk and the backseat and entered through my right pelvis, shattering my hip bone and tearing up my right intestine," said Hobson. "The car was riddled with bullets from an AK-47 burglarize. Why is an AK-47 weapon of war on our streets?"
On Tuesday, Megan joined Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Congressman Ted Deutch, local law-enforcement and gun safety advocates to send the Republican leadership a message on gun safety nearly a calendar month since the worst mass shooting in U.Due south. history.
"In the wake of Orlando, Speaker Paul Ryan'south cowardly activity, nosotros are gathered here with heavy hearts to urge the utmost importance for action," said Wasserman Schultz.

Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz and Congressman Deutch went back to Washington to deliver their message with nine legislative days left until summer recess.
